- +o If your server is serving pages from a CDROM and caches
- pages, it may not release the CDROM. For example if the
- SGI SysTour is linked to /CDROM you will need to add
- the following to the _o_b_j._c_o_n_f file of your server:
-
- <<<<OOOObbbbjjjjeeeecccctttt ppppppppaaaatttthhhh====////vvvvaaaarrrr////wwwwwwwwwwww////hhhhttttddddooooccccssss////SSSSyyyyssssTTTToooouuuurrrr////****>>>>
- PPPPaaaatttthhhhCCCChhhheeeecccckkkk ffffnnnn====""""DDDDoooonnnnttttCCCCaaaacccchhhheeee""""
- <<<<////OOOObbbbjjjjeeeecccctttt>>>>
-
- +o Due to the method by which the 2.X Netscape servers are
- installed by inst, several of the server products
- install the same or very similar files in the same
- location. Under 5.3, this can cause problems with inst
- when any of the servers are removed or upgraded since
- the files would get removed even though other servers
- still depend on them. This is not a problem under 6.2
- since reference counting of files is supported in inst.
- Under 5.3 if you must _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s remove any of the
- Netscape FastTrack 2.0, Netscape Enterprise 2.0, or
- Netscape Proxy 2.0 servers then you must reinstall the
- other servers in order to restore any of the lost
- files. Upgrading to 6.2 is an alternate solution as
- well as giving the added benefit of faster performing
- servers, however once you upgrade to 6.2 you should
- install the servers again so that the reference
- counting is stored in the inst history database.

- The procedure for removing one _t_y_p_e of (but not all)
- server under 5.3:
-
- +o Remove all instances of the server via the Server
- Selector but do not remove the admin binaries.
-
- +o Use SoftwareManager or "versions remove" to remove
- the server type.
-
- +o Reinstall the servers that you wish to keep using.
-
- +o Reboot.

- +o The 1.12 Admin Server is incompatible with the 2.0
- Admin Server. Mixing the 1.12 Admin Server with the 2.0
- Admin Server requires reconfiguring the servers for

-
- +o You may be able to improve the performance of your
- server by disabling Server Parsed HTML for .shtml
- files. This is configurable on your Admin server under
- "Content Mgmt -> Parse HTML". Note that this will
- disable some of Outbox's functionality.
-
- +o If you notice that your server's performance is
- sluggish or not returning pages fast enough then you
- should try increasing the number on processes, minimum
- number of threads, and maximum number of threads.
